Ian Farrell was born in the grey wastelands of Northern England. Exhibiting a passion for words from an early age, he spent much of his childhood idolising Roald Dahl and Brian Jacques. Eventually, his love of reading and writing developed into a broader interest in language and languages as a whole, taking him via Sheffield and Västerås, Sweden, to Berlin, where he now lives as a translator and writer. His hobbies include travelling, deliberately misinterpreting what people say and talking about himself in the third person.
